During the past the handicrafts represented an important supports to the local economy and the social life. Also in the territory of the Alta Murgia, where the agriculture and the sheep farming were the most important activities, the craftsmen worked to help the farmers in their job by tools made of iron, wood, glass and stone. These object were really helpful in the field and with the animals, beside facilitate the work of the women into the houses.
The industrial production which arrived in Alta Murgia during the ’80-’90 caused the extinction of most of the handicrafts, but the few which have remained have become real works of art such as ceramics, stone and texture famous products.
