Start this tour by cycling on a scenic stretch of road where you can admire Castel del Monte, the famous octagonal castle rising in the background among the fields of wheat.

This itinerary will allow you to travel one of the most fascinating and varied stretches of the Alta Murgia National Park cycle path.

You will pass from the open landscape of the Murgian pseudo-steppe to the depths of a conifer woods, discovering rural architectural forms never seen before including the Jazzo (ancient sheep farm) and the church of San Magno, which was built on a snow collection tank (the neviera). However, before having visited these treasures, you will explore the Necropolis of the same name, the largest in the whole Park.

Useful tips to better enjoy your cycling adventure:

  • Dress in sportswear…avoid wearing jeans. They are very uncomfortable.
  • Equip yourself with a k-way and a spare t-shirt. You never know.
  • If you have cycling shorts, those with a padded seat, use them!
  • A good hat is suggested in order to protect your head from the strong sun.
  • Remember to bring a small backpack to carry water and a self-prepared snack.
  • Remember to bring a good supply of water, at least one liter.
  • A good pair of sunglasses can protect your eyes from the sun as well as the unpleasant inconvenience of bugs in your eyes as you are cycling around.
