DAY 2: THE PULO ALTAMURA
Today’s hike takes place at one of the major naturalistic points of interest in the Alta Murgia National Park: the Pulo di Altamura, one of the largest sinkholes in southern Italy. The guide’s narrative will reveal the naturalistic value of this area and its historical and cultural significance.

DAY 3: CASTEL DEL MONTE (UNESCO site) – PANZEROTTI MAKING – GRAVINA IN PUGLIA
Guided tour Castel del Monte, the famous octagonal castle symbol of Puglia, built at the bequest of Emperor Frederick II, now a UNESCO heritage site and one of the most visited and iconic sites in Puglia.
After the guided tour you’ll get involved in “panzerotti” making lesson. The “panzerotto” is a typical
Apulian cuisine, made of fried dough stuffed with tomato and mozzarella, is a delight not to be missed on a trip to Puglia.
In the afternoon you will move to Gravina in Puglia, a city in the National Park of Alta Murgia that preserves an authentic historic center. Among narrow alleys, ancient palaces, and marvelous Romanesque churches, you will head towards the aqueduct bridge that spans the ravine overlooking the city.

DAY 4:SCOPARELLA WOOD HIKING AND WINE TASTING
The Scoparella Wood is one of the largest wooded areas in the Alta Murgia, north of Bari. The forest, characterized by the presence of the pubescent oak, which was once present in Puglia, owes its name to the broom, which covers the undergrowth, with which brooms were created. Among the colors and scents of rosehip, hawthorn, asphodels, asparagus, and numerous medicinal plants, the hiking trail will lead you to the ancient Jazzo del Demonio, a farm that inspired a story of sheep, shepherds, and dark characters that became a legend. You will be delighted with a wine tasting in a cellar in the afternoon.

DAY 5: FREE DAY
In this day you will have the opportunity to relax in Altamura or visit the surroundings, The meals are not included today, you are free to make your own choices. Some options for your day may include:
Altamura: You may like to explore the historic town of Altamura, with its spectacular cathedral, archaeological museum (which includes an exhibition about Altamura Man – a Neanderthal whose remains were found embedded in stalagmites in a nearby cave), market, shops, and ancient walls.
Bari: Easily reached by public transport, this old town and port contains many buildings of historical interest. Puglia’s capital contains many churches but the most well-known is the 11th-century Romanesque Basilica de San Nicola, dedicated to St Nicholas.

DAY 6: BREAD EXPERIENCE AND THE SASSI OF MATERA
In the morning we will visit a historic bakery in Altamura where the famous and delicious Altamura bread with Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) is produced.
We will then drive to Matera, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1993. A guide will accompany you in the discovery of one of the oldest cities on the planet, through the two historic districts characterized by scenic alleys and cave houses, inhabited until the 1950s. A fascinating place that leaves all visitors in awe!

DAY 7: MURGIA HIKING AND MOZZARELLA MAKING
Today’s hiking will give you a total immersion in nature. You will walk along a canyon immersed in the forest and then arrive at a panoramic trail that runs along the edge of the karst step that overlooks the Bradano Valley, which divides Puglia from the mountains of Basilicata. You will encounter the ruins of a farm, a fascinating testimony of transhumance, a long pastoral tradition that has left rural architectures, roads, and stories to this territory, which your guide will reveal to you.
After lunch in a typical Masseria, you will attend a mozzarella lesson with an expert cheese maker.
